Dixieland Delight: favorite song, drink, and now book?
AS I was searching for a good book to start before embarking on the 15 hour journey from Texas back to Georgia, I stumbled upon this gem of a book. I told myself that I would wait to start it but while stuck in the waiting room of a doctors office I began it. The first few paragraphs rang so true to me that I cannot put it down. It perfectly portrays the life in South.
As most of y’all know, I am a DIE HARD football fan. I have grown up in a house that if a college game is on don’t even try to make my dad leave the couch. I worshipped the ground my daddy walked on and quickly realized that if I could figure out the game he and I would never be at a loss for words.
From day one I have bled burnt orange and will forever be true to that team, but as I grew older I began to broaden my horizons because college was approaching. Touring the Vanderbilt and Georgia campuses allowed me to witness the true beauty and love of the SEC. I could not get Georgia off my mind though. So when the decision had to be made, I chose to bleed red and black.
The experiences I have had at the amazing school have only emphasized the love I have for my team. I have fallen head over heels for the SEC and will not turn back. I love the traditions and obsessions every Gent and Lady down here has. Hell, I now have a certain purse, croakies, and gameday boots that I wear to every game.
“After all not everyone can eat at Waffle House, or never get tired of whiskey, or turn in every direction on a football Saturday and see a gorgeous woman standing in the sunlight wearing a sundress, replete with heels.” - Dixieland Delight by Clay Travis
If that quote right there doesn’t convince you to buy this book and share it with every Gent you know, I don’t know what will.
Buy the book, you will not regret it.
Full writeup will be on my other blog FunkyFreshFabulous as soon as I finish it!
Keep it classy, Keep it Southern.
